4/30/08-Trip to Lynchburg Fire Dept.

Today we went to visit the Lynchburg Fire Department. Kori's Daddy works there. He met us as we unloaded and took us on a tour along with some of his co workers.

We got to see where the firemen sleep when they are working. We learned that if there is a fire during the night, an alarm goes off and all the lights come on. We learned they have all their clothes and gear right beside their beds so they can get to the emergency call very quickly.

After seeing where they eat, relax and sleep, we headed to see the rescue vehicles.

Mr Lincoln, Kori's dad told us some things about each truck. We each got a turn sitting in some of the trucks.....

After the fire truck we got a tour of an ambulance. We had to cover our ears when they let it down, because the air was loud..

We each got a turn going through the ambulance

Kori got to turn on the flashing lights for us to see...

Maddie helped Mr Lincoln turn them off.

Next we got to see the Battalion Chief's new car with extra bright lights.

We got to hear about the Ladder truck, and the HAZMAT truck,

When we were done with our tour we each got a coloring book and a Jr. Fire Fighter badge.

We had a great time learning about the Fire Department and what they do. Thanks to Lincoln for arranging our trip and spending time with us!! HUGS to all the Fire Fighters we met! THANKS!
